Wow! Sounds like I missed a fantastic Open Fields this year, one for the record books! Well I had my own open fields, harvesting peppers and making pepper mash, trying to beat the frost everyone said was coming. But it missed us. My electronic thermometer with remote sensor placed at 6" above ground level only went down to 33. The field where the Red Savina test plot is planted is only 3000' south of Lake Erie, and is one of the last places to get a killing frost in this area. Plants still have lots of pods turning color.
