My sister is allergic to *everything* and she can actually use it.<< Believe that I posted here before that I just got mine (lump charcoal) at a Super WalMart. Turned out even better than I expected. Did salsa flavored marinade chicken quarters & porkchops on Sunday. Starts almost instantly & is hotter than the dickens. With the Kingsford briquettes you have to stay out of the smoke or choke. Nasty smell. This stuff actually smells OK & you can breath some of it without irritation. There were only a few bags left & I plan to go back & get several more. I used about 6 lbs and would have used 1/2 of a 24 lb bag of Kingsford. (It not only burns hotter, but burns longer) Did not do the peppers. Decided that the grill was just too greasy. I let it cool down & put it in a contractor trash bag with some ammonia for easier cleanup. Will do the peppers on Tuesday. The charcoal lumps are so hot that I'll have to put a small pile & a soaked hickory chunk on one side of the kettle and the peppers on the other side. Will also have to really *damper down* to control the heat. Am still considering an electric smoker for the peppers. Only $60 for a couple of brands. Just can't help but think that the temp can be controlled better than a charcoal smoker. But, will try the Weber kettle first. JohnT --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
