Slightly OT, but mildly amusing: I decided yesterday to make a batch of Vindaloo paste from scratch. Having assembled all of my ingredients, I had also bought a new coffee grinder and reassigned the old one to duty as a spice grinder. I informed my roommate of what I was doing and proceeded on my merry paste-making way. Needless to say, I did not scrupulously clean the spice grinder after using it. To cut a long story short, the aforementioned roommate (in addition to having forgotten to change his clock from Daylight Saving Time), this morning got confused as to which grinder to use. The result was some intensely aromatic, slightly spicy (I had put 5 of my dried Thais in the paste) and not at all disagreeable coffee. Heavy on the cinnamon and cardamom flavors, but the Mocha Java held up well. Maybe next time I'll do this on purpose... Jonathan --
