Since I originally posted the article about the USPS irradiating the mail, I've heard from a commercial plant-grower and a gentleman who raises certified organic seeds for sprouting <http://www.sprouting.com/> Both men tend to believe that the USPS irradiating mail to sanitize it will not happen. It seems that the USPS found it would cost 3.9 TRILLION dollars to buy enough machines for the country and it takes so long to irradiate the envelopes enough that it would hopelessly bog down mail. They suggest you label all seeds to go through the mail with something lie "live seeds, do not irradiate" for the present. For those interested in the details, there is a Yahoo discussion group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mailirrad. Anyone wishing to join can email mumms@sprouting.com or via the previous website. -- Bob Batson L 39 12 12 N 94 33 16 W rcb@kc.rr.com Kansas City TCS - Mystic Fire Priest USDA Zone 5 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Under the most controlled conditions, the experimental apparatus will do exactly as it pleases.
