Hi all! I'm a fellow addict from Northern 'UK', which, by the way, is a wet and miserable little place in the Northern hemisphere, hence the name 'UK', just like it sounds....... Yes, I have a case of chile (this really your preferred sp.?) addiction, and although there are those out there who would put me to shame, mine is by no means a small matter. If you doubt my credentials, you can ask my family, friends, and co-workers, all of who I disgust on a regular basis (and not just by eating raw chillies and cheddar cheese). Well, I haven't read any of the list yet, having just received subscription confirmation, but looking forward to chatting to you, and errr.... picking a few brains perhaps......I would like to grow a few chillies myself one day, which would save me going to the Asian grocery store and buying a pound or so (of those little green finger chillies they have) once or twice a fortnight, and getting all those strange looks, that sorta say "Why'd he buy a whole 1 1/2 LB's of chillies, then only one piece ginger and 2 bulbs garlic? No masalas at all! No jeera, no mustard seed, no haldi and no methi! Don't he know you can't make Lamb Passanda like that?" I s'pose my first question would have to be..........errmmmm........how darned easy/hard can it be to grow _good_ chillies in a place such as 'UK'? Uhuh! Well, whatabout without a hot-house? In numbers? Anyhoo, I won't tell you who told me you were here, but would like to thank him <cough!>Clyde<cough!> anyway ',;~} Take care, Shaun 'it can be hot ooop north of north' with the help of a little spice :-) R
