The recent thread on scallops made me want to add my own $0.02 worth. As a year-round diver in Massachusetts we have the chance to get our own fresh scallops. Folks, if you have friends who dive, ask them to get scallops for you! You've never tasted "fresh" scallops until you've had them brought to your stove-top "direct" without sitting in tanks of water (a trick unscrupulous dealers use to put more weight on them). My wife uses the scallops in a stir fry recipe that is simply delightful! On a (un-?) related note... A non-diver says my wife and I, "Oh how nice. You can your scallops (sometimes 'lobsters') for free." We both look at each other with a slight smile, reading each other's mind: "These are the most *expensive* scallops if you count the cost of our dive gear!!!" FWIW.... It was 37-deg. F at 30 feet last Sunday (January 27) in Gloucester, MA. No scallops or lobbies spotted. Plenty of Chili's from the summer harvest to warm us up, though! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo!
