Hmm... sounds like an AA meeting.

Rob,

Welcome!

I grow peppers only in containers. (29 varieties this year) My 2nd floor deck gets direct sun only in the afternoon & I can attest to the fact that pepper plants can produce fruit with less direct sun than most would think. The crop may not be as large as in direct sun, but can be pretty good.

The smaller chiles such as the Thai varieties and Super Chili Hybrid seem to do the best and will produce lots of chiles. Ancho, Peter, Pasilla Bajio, Italian Roaster & many sweet varieties that I have grown on my deck have produced peppers.

Because I garden in a *woods* almost all my peppers are somewhat shaded and I think they benefit from the partial shade. If the season is long enough I have had good results from any of the varieties that I have grown in my zone 5.
