......but, fellow CH's, I finally managed to 'over-do-it' with the hot stuff on Saturday........and discovered a whole new hell.... Well, Saturday started off with a walk in the woods and hills with my sisters dog. This was fun, and after 4 1/2 hours of it, I went for a couple of beers at the Clog And Billycock, then returned home hungry. No shopping in, but some of my h/m spiced chile paste and snack foods. I made up a large pot of dip with the paste, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, peanut butter and a dash of lime juice. I proceeded to consume this with crackers, extra-mature cheddar cheese, and lashings of 'delight' - it was bloody good :-) Went to the Asian grocers to re-stock, and found some delightful red chillies there for the first time ever, as they only usually carry green ones. They were sweet, hot, flavourful and _?seedless?_ (pity!) - I have never seen these before. At about 5 o'clock, I piled about 6 to 8 of these on a plate, and munched them down with more cheese and crackers, and lashings of beer. It was Saturday evening after all! Later, I got a call from a friend who's engine had blown on the motorway. He needed consoling, so I turned up with beer and sense of humour, and it kicked off to a good night. At about 9:00 p.m. he asked me if I wanted a bowl of his stew, I said yes, and headed for the kitchen, slightly wobbly from the beer. In his cupboard, I found a nice big bag of powdered chillies, which smelled good and tasted hot, so I started to shake a generous amount on the stew. He shouted "Hey, are you in my goddamn chile powder again?" and set me off laughing - it was a damn fine guess...heh! ',;~} Whilst laughing, I inadvertently shook a good 4 heaped desert spoons-worth of the pure chile powder (not mix), onto the stew, thought "what the hell" and tucked in. It was hot, man was it ever, but it was damn fine, heheh..... More beer, sweat, and time later, I found myself back home feeling peckish and more than a little intoxicated (might have been the beeeeeeers.....). Yup, I tucked into the red chillies and cheese again. This time, the last one I ate was a _whole_ helluva lot hotter than the rest (man, why does that happen?), and I was in tears, but I coped well, and enjoyed the massive endorphin rush heheh..... The morning after, I was _ill_! I hurt. All over: My stomach, my bladder, my intestines and my bowels. I was in the smallest room for a good portion of Sunday. I !'bled'!. It stung like hell. I re-discovered the true meaning of 'after burner'. Repeatedly. I discovered my urine had a scoville rating right off the charts. Now, I have had, ahem! 'experiences' before, being a chile head type, but never like this, not even in the same league or ball-park. Monday came, and I couldn't eat and felt weak all day. I was truly worried I'd never recover, and be denied the indulgence of my chile love forever more!. Today, though, I feel great ??????? - like I've been to hell and back and survived to tell the tale. See, that's the thing with raw chillies and powder (it was quite coarse ground) that isn't 'cooked in' - you can't tell from mouth heat what's going to happen 'inside' after it finally releases it's real 'stored-up' heat. I hope this never happens to me again, truly. My enemies, on the other hand.....heheheh! (evil chuckle) >',;~} Hope I kept it 'non-grapic' enough for y'all Shaun back on the chile sauce today with no worries! R -- Desire For Fire! (But please not _there_!)
