I did make an error in writing "step up" in my original post. It should have been "step down". I purchased a 2000 watt step down transformer, admittedly used, for less than $100.00 a little over a year ago. It's not tiny, weighing in at over 20 pounds, but runs my 1600 watt microwave with no problems. A little shopping around works well. A new 3000 watt four outlet step up/down transformer goes for less than $200.00. I don't think I'd buy one for just a tortilla press though when a couple of plates work just fine. I can't get Masa Harina here easily anyway so I get my tortillas ready made.
