>This discussion of making tortillas from scratch makes me wonder, is >anyone making them with some pepper as part of the recipe? I'm >imagining a tortilla impregnated with a hint of smoky chipotle, or a >rich red medium-heat pepper. The brand in the big floppy bag with green lettering that all of the groceries here have comes in different flavors - they have a pesto (in case you want italian burritos, I guess...), sundried tomato, and a jalapeno variety. There is just the very very slightest twang of heat to let you know that there was indeed a jalapeno in the mixture, probably one jalapeno for every 40 pounds of tortillas, but... I did see a chipotle one at Marsh, but just one out-of-date bag, and when Cub Foods was closing all of their stores, I saw one that was "red pepper" (which red pepper we'll never know), but it had mold on it... But, that means that that brand makes/made those flavors, I guess.... Anyone with a tortilla press should easily be able to heat up his tortillas by adding ground peppers, I'd think... But, then, I've never made tortilla one... -- Chad Gard, KB9WXQ INCHASE: http://www.inchase.org Co-founder SCOA: http://www.stormchasersofamerica.org Member #3 INSWA: http://www.insw.org Unit #21
