Hi, Jim. If you're staying at the Hyatt Tamaya, you're a LOT closer to ABQ than Santa Fe. I don't get to ABQ much(mainly 'cause I don't like it there!), but I can help with SF. Rancho de Chimayo.... um, well, we don't go there much anymore. Their carne adovado is still good though. I would avoid the drive up at the moment as the Pecos Wilderness just northeast of there is burning (Borrego Fire). Smoke from it tends to collect in inversion layers. The Plaza Restaurant in Santa Fe that someone else mentioned has a really eclectic menu lately.... kinda New-Age-Greek-Meets-New-Mexican. Never had a bad meal there though. Hole-in-the-wall: Horsemans' Haven Cafe. Located on lower Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe, tucked into the side of a Texaco station. Fabulous red chile! Best Green Chile Cheeseburger: Dave's Not Here on Hickox in SF. Tomasita's and Maria's in SF are both reliable, but usually crowded (written up in tourist mags) and not *really* worth waiting for. Atmosphere at both is kinda interesting though. (Go early, say 5-ish, if you go to either one.) Avoid the Old Mexico Grill. Food is good, service is adequate... noise level is intolerable!! For breakfast in SF, try Tia Sophia's on San Francisco. Excellent, and again, not what one thinks of as "Santa Fe prices." Closer to where you're staying.... The Range Cafe in Bernalillo... fun atmosphere, cute gift shop, great food, good prices. Maria Teresa on the edge of Old Town in ABQ... great atmosphere, good food, I've had only excellent service there, a little pricier. Contact me off list for more info, phone numbers and addresses, or cuisine-specific recommendations. ~ Raven in Santa Fe, where it actually RAINED today!! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
