First about the bear spray, when it was sprayed on the pontoons of the float planes while they were tethered to the dock up northern BC, those critters were licking the stuff off and biting the pontoons, next thing was the plane sank at the dock! We don't see many bears here in Nanaimo, but the heat being what it is there are lots of bares around mostly bare anyway, covered only in the tender spots....when I was travelling between Alberta and BC I often stopped in a spot where the last spike was pounded in BC and I would park my Winnibago in the little turn off, cook dinner, and listen to music. Pretty soon, the bears would show up, and I would very carefully crack a window and toss out cookies. One old momma left and came back with her two cubs. I decided that discretion was the much better part of valour, and I took off, leaving my slop pail behind! Never fuss with a momma bear if the cubs are with her....for that matter, even if they aint! Cheers, Doug in BC wassat, Erich? Youve changed yer mind?
