Jose: I can't say why the Fish pepper plants changed, but can comment (I think) on the variegation. I believe the variegation is a virus - introduced either by nature or by breeding. I know tulip breeders in Holland introduce viruses to get variegation in their tulips. My Fish are doing great - we got them from Janie Lamson of Cross Country Nurseries (www.chileplants.com). Thanks, Janie! I've also grown Fish peppers from J.L. Hudson - they look similar (the peppers are almost the same shape), but the variegation is not as intense as the Chile Plants plants. Nonetheless - they're all hot as the dickens! And they make a great peri-peri sauce. -- Robert Farr (540) 668-7160 The Chile Man * An organic farm producing hot sauce marinades, salsas, mustards, and barbecue. * Subscribe to our online newsletter at http://www.thechileman.com * Check out this article about us from The Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/style/food/A8659-2001Jul17.html * Open Houses and Farm Tours throughout the year.
