Alex and I were having a little off-list discussion, in part about how wonderful our respective homes smell when we enter, what with all of the drying of peppers going on. Then, he mentioned that last night, when he went home, some misguided youth had opened the doors and lighted scented candles (the horror!), thus destroying that wonderful aura that is such an important part of fall. It got me thinking - wouldn't chile-scented candles be cool? Of course, scented candles work by atomizing scented oils incorporated into the wax. And, perhaps a rom full of atomized capsaicin would be a Bad Thing. But, don't really know without trying. My eyes only water breifly at home right now, and that's only in the kitchen. So... does anyone know how to creat the scented oils used in candle making? Surely it's just a matter of infusing some clean-burning, neutral-scented oil with the essence of whatever you want to smell. But, what oil, and how to infuse? Then, of course, does anyone know how to make candles? I remember making candles with parafin wax back in elementary school, but as I recall, they didn't really burn that well.. I'm just thinking that a nice, bright red, cayenne-scented candle in one of those little "Yankee Candle Company" glass jars might be cool to have... -- Chad Gard, KB9WXQ INCHASE: http://www.inchase.org Co-founder INSWA: http://www.insw.org Unit #21
