Happy New Years fellow ChileHeads!!!! I hope that y'all had a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year; spent with loved ones and in the greatest
of cheer. Without a doubt this has been one of the worst holiday season's
my wife and I have ever spent together. First, a disclaimer - this is not
a pity trip. This is just an explanation of the previous statement, a
possible cause and a plea for assistance and guidance in mitigating these
circumstances.

As I am sure most of you know, both my wife and I lost our jobs this year
and that I have still not found work. When my wife did find work it was
out of town, away from her mother, who is losing her fight with cancer.
Then on 12/6/02, on a trip that we skrimped and saved for, especially for
my wife's birthday, to Tunica, Mississippi (gambling Mecca of the South,
hear that Rael?), we were struck by a car, as they ran a red light, and my
car was totaled. To add supreme insult to injury it appears that an
'unbiased witness' gave a statement to the police that we had started to
roll forward, into the intersection, while the light was still red. Now
the police have still not taken our statement (we were rushed to the ER
from the scene before such was done), we have been contacted by a lawyer
for a third party involved in the accident (to sue?), and, because of the
lack of any other 'unbiased witnesses to the contrary' we are being held
accountable for the whole shebang. Our only defense, had we been able to
make a statement, is that my wife was watching the cross traffic's signals
as we waited for ours to turn green. When theirs turned from green, to
yellow, to red she pulled out. What we didn't know was that all four
lights would be red for about a second, then ours would turn green. But he
was determined to beat his red and we jumped our green. So now we are
being blamed for the accident, will probably be dropped from our insurance
company, will probably be sued by this third party and I lost the car I
most loved in my entire life. The only good thing that came from this was
that my wife only suffered several moderate/severe bruises and a little
finger broken in two places and I suffered several moderate/severe bruises
and *possibly* a torn ligament in one shin.

Ok, so for any and all of those of you who are still listening, I have a
favor to ask. Obviously I have done or not done, as the case may be,
something that has severely angered El Grande and I need help in deciding
how to rectify this. Now that I have moved, I have a huge yard, so a
massive garden is not out of the question, but I am not sure that that is
the answer and the yard is not fenced in. I am very serious about this, as
it has been a really, really, REALLY SHITTY YEAR!! And if it weren't for
God watching over us as much as He has I think El Grande would have had us.
So I really think that I should find a way to do something to make him
happy again.

Maybe I could start a campaign to have the entire Northeast USA to convert
from using regular fuel oil to heat their homes to using chile oil. After
all, it naturally burns 'hotter' doesn't it? And smells much better doing
so and serves double duty in the kitchen in a pinch. Or maybe working on a
taskforce to prevent to the further spread and to bring about the actual
destruction of the "heatless <chilename here>".

Anywho, I am open to any and all serious suggestions and hope that y'all
can help me as I am at a loss. Which for this year has not been unusual.

PS - May the Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you ChileHeads
for your unfailing support and kindness this past year. Despite puling and
maundering about our troubles this past year, just now, I have felt your
strength and good will, and have felt blest and so very grateful for it.
Just saying thank you seems so pitifully inadequate, but it is all that I
have, so there it is. Thank you very much. And God bless you and yours in
the New Year.
