Craig, Not so!  
This issue was well discussed on the list in fall of '98.
No ñ in Habanero, as there is no ñ in Havana.

The pronunciation of Hananero using the ñ would be be different!
The ñ is pronounced "ny":

           habanero chile     [ah-bah-NEH-roh] 
    vs.    jalapeño chile     [hah-lah-PEH-nyoh] 

Please be sure of your facts before sounding so authoritive.
