17 years and 4 days after the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded on launch, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated while approaching it's landing site in Florida. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the seven astronauts who perished in this tragedy. The space program will continue. And this affects not just Americans, but all people worldwide. This crew had Israel's first astronaut aboard. Other crews have included astronauts from South Africa Japan and several other countries. Space is not OWNED by any one country. Space is for all nations to be shared and utilized equally. So as we look to the future of space exploration, we can only pray that stronger safety measures be enacted, more precautions put in place, and newer equipment be developed, to ensure that this tragedy does not repeat itself. To the seven voyagers who perished today, we salute you. The world will mourn you, but your sacrifice shall not be in vain, for the loss of your lives will help to prevent furture loss of life.
