Hello All - Last night Dan & I went to the East Coast Grill for their Hell Night (a late Valentine's dinner - romantic, don't you think??) Everything on the menu was marked with little atom bombs to indicate the heat level (on a scale of one to seven.. with only one item with seven bombs on the menu). We had Jamacain Connection - 1/2 dozen oysters and a Scotch bonnet sausage for the appitizer (4 bombs). It was a great combination! For dinner I had the chicorrones (sp?) a pork stew with sides of rice & beans and fried plantains (4 bombs). It was great! Really hot. Sprinkled with hab powder all around. Dan had the Thai seafood stew (6 bombs). Man was that hot! A mixture of shrimp, mussels, scallops rolled in Thai bird powder, and fried squid in a lemongrass Thai broth. I made the mistake of stealing a squid ring while Dan was in the Men's room... He couldn't understand why I was wheezing and coughing when he returned...I was bagged! We sat near the open kitchen, so everytime the cooks made a new batch of their infamous Pasta sneeze. I blew my nose so hard, I popped my ears. Then I said to Dan: "It's so hot I can't hear..." What a great night! Chris Schlesinger is a wonderful host. We got a chance to talk chiles with him. We were talking about Chileheads - much praise for the Pepper Gal and Northeast Chileman! All in all - it was a great time. The most fun was watching the non-chile eaters try to eat the Pasta From Hell...Most made it through one noodle. Pretty funny. Helen
