I went out in the backyard to do a bit of inventory on what happened to the plants while I was gone. When it comes to chiles, they are all in pots right now. Some died in smaller pots, all the ones in medium to large pots lived and are doing well. 4 of the plants have buds - Lemon Drop, Guam Boonie Orange Devil Hab and Ring of Fire. One plant has a chile on it - labelled Orange Serrano but it definitely looks like the Orange Thai so it is probably mislabelled. I am going to be brave and wait for the chile to ripen before trying it. Tomorrow I am going to finish weeding the raised bed and plant some of the plants that are in smaller pots that are still barely alive. I will also fertilize a bit with some fish emulsion. Trev & I did quite a bit of weeding this morning, in the hot sun. Mostly purslane. I noticed that some of my heirloom tomatoes that the varmints ate in June are back, and better than ever! Anna Russian has a bud on it. So does Big Rainbow. Anyway, the chiles are doing pretty well. A few aphids here and there but I also saw a lady bug in the bed and a dragonfly flying around it so I'm not worried. I crushed them with my fingers. So there is life in the garden. Happy am I. I know I have to wait to harvest anything decent but it's a start. RisaG, Zone 6, NJ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com
