I was in Somerville today (this is NJ, not MA). After I had a great lunch at Alfonso's (love that place!), I went to the chinese grocery and the mexican grocery down the street. At the chinese, I bought a new bottle of Sriracha Sauce and I found something called Szechuan Salad Sauce and the first ingredient is chile. It is from a company called Super Lucky Foods in Shanghai. I haven't tried it yet but I hope it is good. The other thing I found, at the Mexican grocery, was a line of sauces called Zaaschila. They are made in San Nicholas, Mexico. I bought a bottle of their Tomatillo Hot Sauce. It looks really good. They also had an Arbol sauce, a Hab sauce and a Jal sauce, among other items such as salsa and canned chiles. I also got 2 cans of Herdez chipotle en adobo (hard to find around here), some ancho chiles (pliable so I know they are fresh), and cilantro. I noticed that they also sold other dried chiles (guajillo, mulato, arbol, and a few others). They sold fresh tortillas too. I will be investigating this store a bit more next time I hit Somerville. My husband had a really good serving of Calamari Fra Diavolo. I tasted it and it definitely had a kick to it. Also, for those who like Emeril Lagasse, Costco is selling a 4 pack of his new rubs for $7. It includes his rib rub, steak rub, chicken rub and fish rub. I thought that was a good deal as I have seen the separate bottles at Shoprite for $3 each. They are also selling Raspberry Chipotle Sauce in large bottles.
