Finally got resubscribed to this list after a small hiatus... I wondered what was missing from my life :) Anyway, a couple of things... First up, I've found the perfect medium for eating Dave's: Patak's Brinjal pickle. It covers the burnt cat flavour very nicely, and the spiciness really does fantastic things with all that heat. Tried it out one day when I needed a fix but wasn't quite up to Dave's on bread by itself. This stuff is fantastic even without chile augmentation, I only wish I didn't have to travel 100 miles to the only place that sells it. Hey cool, I've started sweating round the eyes just from thinking about Dave's! The sympathetic nervous system is a truly amazing thing. Secondly, I've been bravely eating fresh cilantro at every opportunity, and I'm happy to report that you do indeed get used to the stuff. I can't quite say that I really like it yet, but I can certainly appreciate that it's a necessary part of an awful lot of foods, so the genetic-cilantro-haters myth definitely goes out the window. jbc
