In the US it is a violation of federal law to use any pesticide in a matter not specified on the label or instructions. This means that if it says use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon on peppers up to five days before harvest, you can't use 1 teaspoon three days before harvest because you think you are smarter than the manufacturer. Using less than the manufacturer's recommendation is okay though and often works well, because after all, they are in the business of selling their product. Additionally, many pesticide manufacturers license the same product for different applications in different states. If you purchase a product at a licensed nursery in the state where you intend to use it, you are probably okay. If you hear about some product here or find it on the internet, you should check with your state or county agricultural department to find out if it has been approved for the application you intend to use. "More" is never better when it comes to pesticide or fertilizer applications. > > Don't call your county agent for a "blessing" on an illegal application > of any pesticide.
