Twas Writ: >Does anyone know if irradiation of the produce will prevent >the botulism or does irradiation just give produce a longer >shelf life??? Methinks that I don't know (helpful boy, hmmM?)...but I wouldn't count on it. Irradiation is merely (IMO) a means for growers/producers/etc. to become even more lax in their production of goods as well as a typical government "solution" to a wicked problem (read: no solution but it looks damn good on a beaurocrat's resume). It is no godsend. It should not be reason (excuse) for viewing produce, poultry, meats, etc as "safe". Life is not safe. Never was. Never will be. Foodborne disease/illness(es) arise from improper food/product handling and/or simple laziness, even greed (indirectly...i'll stop on that one...). Anywho...just a redneck's opinion...nothing more...truly (well) not a lecture but a plea for all to know and understand reasons and need for proper sanitation and safety proceedures/guidelines when it comes to foods, particularly at home where contamination is more likely to occur. <hum a bit here as Rael changes modes....do da, do da...hmm, I smell waffles...> Oh yeah...Rael is back. Living in Idaho (pocatello). Weather has been like Mississippi over the last couple weeks 'cept people wandering around (including the sweet nubile) bitching about the humidity. Humidity. 40 percent humidity. HAHAHAHAHA....oh, these folks just don't know...I remember one of the last days in Mississippi before this move...sitting in front of the gym waiting for the gym-guy to open up...about 88 degrees...about 85 percent humidity...about 4.45 in the AM...humidity...hehehe...sheeeeet... Of course, they'll be the laughing ones come winter when Rael turns into a RedneckPopsicle. I shudder to imagine it...testicular hell, indeed...groan... Ahem... got chiles growin'...most are flowering but seems things grow more slowly up here..okay, that's not true, but i digress...does looks like only one hab plant (which is bad for obvious pollination reasons, hmmm?) a couple bell peppers (roastin' is the only good thing to do with them..) and a couple "i-dunnos"...Rael ain't never been keen on chile identification...just eat 'em...sing to them on occasion...rub them on my flesh...worship them and consume them in glorious gluttonous, uh, well, oh, damn...not enought java... Blessings to all...and don't count on the government much less the big corporations (*most* of them...some are good...I hear tell..hmmm) to provide you w/safe foods...grow your own...buy organic...demand non-GM...or don't...'tis your body to do with as you will, baby.......
