Folks, Byron Bromley asked about an orange Red Savina that won't ripen to red. My guess is that it is a standard orange hab. If I remember the story correctly, the red variety was discovered in a large commercial field, a couple of plants out of thousands. When it was also discovered to slightly hotter, seeds were collected and the [successful] attempt was made to see if it would breed true and accumulate enough seeds to make a commercial venture (thus the patent). Anyway, I suspect that even in seed collected only from red savina habs, there might be a few throwbacks to the orange ancestor. Take care. Brandon Nuttall Frankfort, KY
