Almost screwed up by placing the bulbs 6 inches above the first tray. Byron rescued me by telling that the bulbs need to be almost touching the trays and later almost touching the leaves. I also used bottom heat because the tray(s) were in my cellar. A 40W bulb in a one foot high wooden box with the tray perched on (recessed in) the open top (touching on all sides) did the trick. The Habaneros (from Tough-Love) were up in four days (no pretreatment). As seedlings progressed, I transplanted to small peat pots (should have used 4" from the start) and kept them moist by placing about a dozen in plastic shoe storage boxes (Ames dept. store $1). Others on here went nuts trying to keep the peat pots damp, I'd use plastic if I could find inexpensive ones. My only real problem - too many plants, not enough garden. Gareth the ChileKnight
