It took about 14 hrs to get them "crunchy" dry (in order to make into powder or flakes). Note - I slit them in half in order to increase the surface area for drying. Otherwise, expect to increase the drying time. I have also read in several books that drying of peppers can be done in an oven at a temp of 125-200 Fahrenheit. My suggestion would be to use 150 degrees. Just keep checking them every couple hours to see if they have become "brittle" enough. For newbies (like myself) to the growing of and types of Hot Peppers there are books on this subject by "Dewitt" in the cooking section of bookstores. I purchased the one titled "The Whole Pepper" or something very similar to that title. It must be a good book as I have seen many quotes, pages, and/or references to parts of it any a few Hot pepper sites. brad
