Hi all, I've been catching up on digests and have just seen the "12" thread. I received an non-obscene flaming from our 'friend' Roystie after defending Dave Anderson on the list. Does this qualify me too or did the flaming have to be crude? (VBG!) On topic - I planted 12 new varieties (that I haven't grown before) a few weeks ago and have lots of little chile babies poking their heads out of the seedling compost. Most of this seed was supplied by Dave of Tough Love and the only ones that I'm still waiting for at least one plant to germinate of are the Tepins which I gather are notoriously hard to germinate. I kept some of the seed and will try again in another week if nothing comes up soon. Anyone got any foolproof methods for assisting the germination of these chiles? Most of these new plants will join my 20 or so overwintered plants (that are already setting fruit and bursting out of their grow bags) in the veggie garden soon. I intend keeping a few prime specimens from the overwintered plants in pots so that I can overwinter them again next year. I have one Habanero that is starting it's fourth summer and produced over 100 pods last summer so I can attest to the value of caring for plants through Winter - you get bigger and more prolific plants the second and subsequent years and you also get fresh chiles REALLY early in the season! It's great to see a lighter mood back on the list - keep it up folks. Cheers from Sue in sunny, Chile growing time South Africa
