The Cardinal very correctly wrote: "...drinking water and nearly all swimming pools are kept sanitary by free chlorine ions." Very true. Chlorine carrying a plus charge, too! All the better to oxidize with. I guess I mentioned that the consensus of those opposed to hypochlorite was that it produced bad products as it disinfected. My own opinion is I would rather take my chances with stomach cancer from 50 plus healthy years of sub-part-per million trihalomethanes in my drinking water than risk certain discomfort or even early death from typhoid, dysentery, giardiasis or other water-borne illnesses. Ozone works, but it has no residual effect the way chlorine does. Cool weather coming tonight in St. Louis. Neighbor had to cut down an apple tree. Guess who has a batch of smoked ripe jalapenos and serranos! (On topic --- whew!) George
