I purchase mushroom compost every year for my chile garden.  Its been
working for me for 3 seasons now.

Here in SE PA (also known as "the mushroom capital of the world") there is
an abundance of this compost that can be bought at most anyplace that sells
landscape/mulch products.

I once planted some peppers in mushroom compost.  That is a horse manure -
dirt combination in which mushrooms were grown for one season.  They did
very, very well.
