I didn't see any twins this year, but I quite often see a second undeveloped fruit inside bells. When I started tomatoes in the greenhouse this year the first blossoms had more pistils and stamens than I'd seen before and these fruits developed multiple nodes. Once the tomatoes were set out the blossoms looked normal and and the fruits were single. I have no idea what causes this, but it happens with quite a few plants.
