When the whiteflies hit my greenhouse, I picked out my best pepper plants (in
containers) and took them to my daughters for safe keeping. Whiteflies are now
gone, thanks to Marathon, so I got my prize lemon drop pepper plant back
Saturday. It was loaded with about a hundred peppers that look like long
tabascos. The aroma and taste of them is wonderful. A strong lemon smell and
an interesting vegetable (raw asparagus?) taste. Medium heat. We were about to
have a beer when I had the idea to try one of the peppers in the beer. So I
took a Rolling Rock, unscrewed the cap, split the pepper lengthwise and put it
in the beer. Screwed the cap back on and left it in the fridge for a day. Boy
is it good! A nice strong citrus flavor. A lot like Tequiza beer except you
get to eat Senor Chile at the end. I've now got a whole case of it "brewing".
