Such-a-deal. I drove back home to Watsonville, CA from Sutter Creek and stopped in at Joe & Aurelia's pepper farm (& peach ranch). It was well-described in 1997 by Howard & Marcy Guyer of Livermore: http://neptune.netimages.com/~chile/chileFarm.html My wife, Dee, took some pictures which I'll post after the film gets developed. It's on the south side of the road just over 4 miles east of Highway 99 on Highway 88 (9816 E.Waterloo Road): http://www.mapblast.com/mblast/map.mb?CT=38.008829%3A-121.197403%3A30000&GAD1=&GAD2=E+Waterloo+Rd&GAD3=Stockton%2C+CA++95215-2303&GAD4=USA&W=425&H=250&IC=37.9874%3A-121.2437%3A8%3A&Zip=95215&lv=4&MA=1&zoom.x=36&zoom.y=135 (Note: the red cross is only about 1/4 mile east.) The sign on their driveway at the highway says PEPPERS ROASTING or maybe it was CHILES ROASTING They have 7.5 acres of peppers on this plot and 10 acres on another, a little closer to town. There are 21 varieties. You pick your own peppers and they're all only 25 cents/lb. I picked 6 chiles each of Numex Big Jim, Numex Sandia & Habanero Red and Joe didn't charge me anything because that was such a small amount. Joe's quit irrigating, so picking will be over by mid-November. 20 varieties are now ripe, except the 4 rows of Habanero Reds, http://www.tvfuture.com/enchanted/exotic.htm which are 99% still green, but will be ripe by the Oct. 30/31st weekend. You could check ahead of time to be sure. You can reach him by phone 7AM-6PM 209.931.4069 You can reach his wife, Aurelia, by email at chili-ck@pacbell.net
