Myron, marinade some chicken in that old sour, and grill it. You will amaze people. Everybody and his brother uses a bbq sauce with chicken, or maybe an italian dressing, but no one grills with that tart lime flavor. Of course, the chile content is up to you, and I suggest some green habs or scotch bonnets instead of the traditional green thai or serrano. As it happens, I will probably be passing right by you on I-95 today, on my way home. Yes, back to the land of bare branches for me, after a few fun days in the sun. Yesterday we skipped the U-Pick farms on Krome Avenue, but we did hit Robert is Here, the touristy fruit stand at the edge of the Everglades. I got two bottles of Junkyard Dawg hot sauce, with the Robert is Here label. "Barks on the way in, howls on the way out, use with caution." (Yeah, at $8.55 for a 12-ounce bottle, it howls) Ingredients: red, green and yellow habaneros, sesame seeds, garlic, key lime juice, wine vinegar, and salt. The aroma is fantastic. The flavor is bright and open and fresh. This town had fireworks for an hour or more lasdt night. We did the traditional Cuban roast pork and mojo, along with some hoppin john, and the twelve grapes at midnight. Now to turn back north, and face the grim fact that somewhere along the way I have to get out of these shorts and back into long pants.
