Hi all, For the chocolate syrup challenged members of the list - I gather that Hershey's C. Syrup refers to a chocolate syrup made by Hershey's. I have heard of the company as a manufacturer of chocolate bars, but we don't get this syrup here in South Africa. Any suggestions for a substitute and what quantity does a can of Hershey's syrup hold? The recipe looks interesting and I'd love to try it out. A quick update on the chile growing season here - the weather around where I live has been very wet for the past 6 weeks or so and my plants aren't doing as well as usual. They are far slower than last year - most haven't reached more than 18" in height yet despite being in the ground for a few months. They have been attacked more often than is usual by aphids and white fly which is a darn nuisance. I don't have a single ripe pepper yet either apart from those plants that I overwintered in pots or grow-bags. (Red and Orange Habs, Rocottos, Aji and a few others whose names I can't remember right now!) Last century's plants are doing well and bear out the oft stated opinion that it is a good thing to overwinter chile plants.(Otherwise I'd have no ripe chiles at all...!) Cheers from Sue in a not so Sunny South Africa
