Hi Dan, I took a look at the site you recommended and the Chile I mentioned for the apple sauce was indeed a cascabel and not a cascabella. What those chileguys did was they dried the cascabel and then played La Cucharacha with them. They looked black and they were round. I had never heard of those chiles, but then again I'm a lamen when it comes to chiles. All I know is that I love hot food. Can't quite get used to Hab sauces yet, but I'm getting there.
