So. Bell peppers have tons o'vitamin C? More'un oranges., even? I HATE orange juice - and not overly fond o'oranges - for drinking/plain eating purposes. YUCK. But love to cook with both. Nope. Don't do grapefruit either. (-------------> Covering eyes with hands... La-la-la-la-la-la-la! I can't read you!) If dried peppers are third for amount of Vitamin C one can get, it seems to this pequin-sized brain simple math dictates I gotta eat 3X more chipotles in order to get the same amount of Vitamin C I'd get if I gagged down one Bell. Izz tripling my intake o'chipotles like supposed to be a hardship or sumpin'?????? I don't *think* so!!! :> Also, I think it was Virginia, that asked what a Gyspy is... Father Jim could prolly xplain better as he grows them, but I can give you my warped xplination... They're green peppers - chiles, but deserving o'that title! - and look kind'a like a cow's horn, but don't curve as much as a horn - if THAT makes any sense! But, that's what they remind me of. They're bigger around than Annahiems (sp?), and usually shorter. The bottom - tip - has two to three gently rounded lobes. The heat level is just barely warm, if that. A hint of heat... A suggestion of it. And very mildly sweet. They're a lighter green than a Bell; not dark green, but that light yellowish-grass green. You can get them going yellow, yellow, and orangish-red, and the flavor gets better as they mature, but they don't ever get hot, just more flavorful. And there is no, ***no*** bitterness whatsoever. For those that HATE Bells, they are a godsend! They taste like what a Bell *should* taste like. I discovered them last summer at the Farmer's Market here when deliberately looking for a Bell sub and even waxed euphorically here about my discovery. They are great stuffed, sauted, raw, charred, on burgers, in salads - you name it! I *think* they're very similar to Cubanelles... And I'm trying to get my "green's Stuffed Gypsy Peppers" off diskette but things aren't going well. But I haven't forgotten the request! green (-------------->RDH)
