Twenty years ago when I was an 85 year old abandoned soul in the local asylum, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It had spread through every organ in my body. I was given a month to live. I was already blind and had both legs amputated due to an injury. During the surgery, they accidentally removed both arms. I was feeling a little depressed. Just then a foxy young 80 year old in the next bed suggested I try the magical chile pepper. On day one, I was just barely able to eat a tiny piece of bell pepper. Day two a tiny bit of Anaheim and so on. By the 2oth day my tolerance had built to 10 habaneros a day and my eyesight was starting to return. By the 30th day, when I should have been dead, The doctor could find no indication of cancer in my body. After 3 months I had regrown both arms and both legs. It has now been a year. I compete in all marathons and am independently wealthy due to the hair clippings that I sell (the main ingredient in Viagra). So, are there health benefits in peppers? I would think so, but there have not been any trials on a control group to verify this. Name withheld at the request of the author.
