Thought,

Take a leg of panty hose, cut about 2 in strips across the leg. Snip to cut
band.

Tie around the base of the plant, just barely snug.
Should expand as the plant grows

Objective: stop cutworm

If it gets wet from rain or watering should dry out fast enough to stop a
fungal growth.

Anyone see any drawbacks.

JC this is for homegrowers only. But then again the way those things expand
maybe a couple "Just My Size" ones would do your field <<grin>>
