Well, George, I hope you'll be as happy with your Mantis as Erich is with his. Liz seems to think it's a machine from hell, but since you now own one, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. You've had plenty of advice re replacing your lawn with beds, so we expect to hear great things from you soon. >Is everyone well today and surviving the bad weather on the East Coast and >the Left Coast? We are leading a charmed life this winter: the ice storm missed us, the last snow storm missed us and now this latest nastiness on the East Coast stopped more or less on the NY/PA border, so we are chilly but dry. Our friends in northern CA are awash. Our Amish neighbors were actually plowing the other day. Plowing! The ground isn't frozen and it's February in upstate NY and he was plowing! Amazing. I suppose someone has to benefit from these global changes but we wish it wasn't at the expense of others. Too early to start seed here, at least normally, but I bet I'll regret waiting when spring comes early. Cheryl, putting some arugula from the garden in tonight's salad - the rest store bought - and thinking of yours, George. Cheryl Schaefer schaefer @epix.net Zone 5 in the fabulous Finger Lakes of NY
