Hi all, Just to give you an idea of what I did this weekend.... :-) I planted the following: Alchemilla mollis (Lady's Mantle) Anthericum ramosum (St Bruno's Lily) Bletilla striata (Hardy orchid) Gentian scrabra (Gentian) Gillenia trifoliata (Bowman's root) Glaucidium palmatum (can't find a common name for this one) Helleborus Garden Hybrid Geranium maculatum 'Alba' Digitalis ambigua 'Carillon' (Foxglove) Digitalis mertonensis (Foxglove) Jasione laevis (Shepherd's scabious Begonia grandis (Hardy begonia) Chlorophytum major (Liliaceae) (again, can't find a common name) Habranthus robustus (Amaryllidaceae) (can't find common name) Polygonatum odoratum 'Veriegatum' (Verigated Giant Solomon's Seal) Lilium formosanum (Formosa Lily) Ceratostigma plumbaaginoides (Dwarf Plambago) Primula kisoana (Hardy Primrose) Geranium 'Cambradge' (Hardy Geranium) Calycanthus (sweetshrub) Amsonia hubrectii(Narrow Leaf Blue Star)--this is *beautiful* in bloom Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex' (Double flowered Bloodroot) Hepatica and a few other things that I haven't gotten written down yet :-) Prior to planting, I dug the hole and mixed in shredded hardwood mulch in equal amounts with the soil from the hole, then mixed in crab meal (ground up crabs) and some Sta-Green 9 month fertilizer. Some of this stuff was planted in older, pre-existing beds, and a lot of it was planted in newer, yet to be amended beds, so it took a lot more work. I'm really looking forward to seeing this stuff grow and spread. I planted more than one of a lot of the stuff, but only one of some of it. Take the helleborus for example. Every one of these that I've ever planted has died, so I'm trying one plant in a different spot to see if it will live. I think the bed I was planting it in was too acidic for it. I also set out about 1/2 doz annual begonias that Mom gave me, as she didn't have room for them. For the first time in years, I've only got about 3 things left to plant!! Now I've just got to make the name signs for all this stuff! I'll have to buy more, as I don't have enough. Another trip to the nursery! ;-) Hope you're weekend was as fun and productive :-) Bambi
