Pat, there were only two dishes my mother used to make for
us.  Take a deeeeeep breath:

Cold canned salmon chopped and mixed with raw onion, 
vinaigrette dressing on lettuce, with chunks of crusty New York
rye bread which had been rubbed with the cut side of a clove of


Home made what she called chili con carne, to which she added
(small print) some spaghetti. 

You can't hang her at dawn, for she's long since gone.
