I love this plant commonly called coneflower of course. This I think is one of your basic plants. Lately I have become interested in unusual plants and buying plants for their foliage. I bought a light lime green fern amsonia. The flower is similiar to other amsonias but I love the foliage all year. Have you tried Asclepias/ milkweed. My favorite is incarnata.
