Okay, I'm going nutso here. Not a long trip. Somewhere I have read about a watermelon grown by the Navajos that was a "long-keeping" watermelon. I think they ate it about Christmas or later. It may have had red seeds. I can't find a reference to it, and can't figure out where to look. As I recall, they stored it in sand until they were ready to eat it. I may have read about it in a book like "Square tomatoes and blue corn" or something of that ilk (I thought about calling the library, but since I'm so unsure of the title I thought Diane Birmingham would hear the guffaw, clear across the country.) That book was semi-popular several years ago. I disliked it, and apparently tossed it. Now I need that info. Does anyone have any ideas? Muchas gracias, Margaret L
