Tough decision David.  Is there any new growth on the peonies?  If it is
just starting to take off, I'd be hesitant to move them.  Maybe just make
sure they stay well watered in hopes that you're diluting any of the toxic
stuff.  I'll ask around on my other list and let you know if wiser
gardeners have better advice.
