Martha, I sat here reading your message about the lime green
and the tricolor ornamental sweet potato, and suddenly leapt
from my chair with a whoop and flew downstairs to the garage.
You triggered my memory button to realize that I had left three
cuttings I had brought back from the Master Gardener meeting
somewhere inside my car, loose -- 7 hours ago.... geez, how
can a caring person get so forgetful...??

They are called purple but they're really oxblood, pendulous,
prolific, probably have a lilac flower, and I just cannot think of
their name. And in all that time out of water, they didn't droop
even one smidgeon...!

I've never seen either the mandevilla or the sweet potato before
this year -- but you can bet that I'll be out there aggressively
searching for all 3 kinds of potato and more mandevilla next
summer. It's exciting to find new plants!
