Anne,
Don't feel bad I know many of us have the same problem.  My Mom & I can head 
the list.  I've been highlighting the things I want in the catalogs I have & 
my, my, my, it is a large wish list.  Only with the most severe restraint 
could I manage to order only what I really need.  Somehow servere restraint 
isn't my big thing when it comes to ordering seed.  Fortunately if I really 
need a place to plant my Mom has a ditch bank that borders an irrigation 
ditch that she is planting to reduce erosion.  For the last 3 years Mom & I 
have been planting our overflow seed & experiments on the ditch bank.  One 
advantage is we don't have to worry about watering them.  Although there is 
the problem of harvesting the fruit of our labor.  Sometimes (uhgg, yuck) we 
have to wade in the ditch to get to things off the ditch bank.  Oh, well we 
all have to sacrifice for something.  I guess if I want the reward I have to 
wade.

Yep, This would save me some searching.  Problems come when I end up with 
$50
worth of seed and only $5 worth of space to plant it.  The beans I planted
this last week were purchased for the 1997 season.  So far 3/4 have come up.
The rest may have, but a local cat decided my nice bed was a good litter 
box.
  Then there is the golfball I found planted in there too.  My own dog may
have helped.  I have an awful problem holding myself to only what I need 
when
I get into the catalogs.  I still have a couple of unopened pkgs of seed 
from
1997 stored in the frig.  Off to Walmart I go, for some seed for this coming
winter season.
