George, two Ortho products should be usable on edible
crops:

Ortho tomato and vegetable insect killer
Ortho Bug-B-Gon insect killer

You would need to repeat once a week until there is no
further sign of the bugs.  There are two generations a year 
in the south.

It is of primary concern to eliminate cucumber beetles,
because they bring with them devastating diseases which
could take out your whole veggie garden (mosaic and
bacterial wilt). 

Remember, Read The Labels.
