<< I've tried twice to get some Swiss chard started, and finally read that I need to soak it overnight first? Are there any other tricks? >> Yes, soak the seeds for a day or two! Swiss Chard grows like crazy forever and ever. I am not sure you can kill it! It can be slow to start, once it is established you'll being eating it several times a week. I like the Rainbow or Joseph's Coat as it is colorful. Try cooking it with applewood smoked bacon and a dash of Applewood Smoked Habanaro pepper. It's really good with Balsamic Vinegar and garlic.
