Hi, Stacey -- you are supposed to be able to plant potted
or b&b plants at any time that the ground is not frozen. Do
not use a commercial fertilizer for 6 months. Water them
well the first day by building a small moat around the plant to
capture the water with which you fill it, and then after a few
weeks, fill in the moat and water once a week well, if it does
not rain properly. 2nd year treat as nornal.

Be sure to follow instructions for how deep to plant. If a tree
gets planted too deep, it will grow fibrous roots on the trunk,
where no rootlets should exist, and eventually will grow some
roots which will girdle the tree, and choke it to a slow death.

If you intend to use a 3" mulch of some kind, then plant your
plants or trees 3 inches higher than normal, so the mulch does
not abuse the plants.
