Cut them in half length-wise and put in seed side down. You might pierce the skins with a sharp knife to allow the heat to better penetrate. I got better luck with mine that way. I dried a bunch of Yellow Pear two years ago and they were excellent. I still kept them in the freezer because our humidity is so high. I tried some in a quart fruit jar that I vacuum sealed and they stayed okay for some months. They have to be completely dry or they will mold or rot.
